Montwood is pleased to announce our ministry providing pastoral counseling services for members. Pastoral counseling is a form of therapy which combines Scripture and Christian faith with practical help to discuss issues like anxiety, grief, addiction, marital and family problems, PTSD, and other personal struggles.
As Christians, our relationship with God influences everything about us, including the challenges we face in life, so pastoral counseling is structured on an understanding of how faith in God and human experience connect. It helps people not only cope with pain but also grow in their spiritual life. All counselors are equipped to help people through tough times, but pastoral counselors focus on spirituality as part of the recovery.
Our new program will include the involvement of three long-time members of Montwood who each have a master’s degree in mental health counseling. Two of them have completed supervised counseling hours and meet state requirements for licensure, and the third is in the process of doing so. They will be donating their time and expertise, so we greatly appreciate their participation. As shepherds, we care deeply about our members and their walk with God, and we believe this ministry is an additional way to support our efforts.
